Belarus to impose customs duties for one-year-old trucks
The Belarus's Ministry of Industry is pushing for the collection of customs duties for the import of trucks older than one year, said Valiancin Hurynovic, the deputy Minister of Industry of Belarus.
The government wants to treat vehicles which have run for at least one year since manufacture as 'used vehicles'. The measure would enable the government to subject such vehicles to the existing duty of 2.2 euros per 1 c.c. of the engine.
In the view of Hurynovic, the used vehicles should be restricted for imports, as they hold back the development of the domestic truck-making industry.
Currently, this duty is paid for the import of vehicles which were manufactured more than three years ago, reports Interfax.
