Belarus MPs ratify customs union package
Lawmakers in Belarus have ratified a package of documents on the Customs Union of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan. The package comprises 13 legislations on the ratification of international agreements that form the legal framework for the Customs Union of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan.
The ratified documents deal with tariff quota procedures, customs clearance procedures, declaration of goods, customs duties and others.
Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan have agreed to introduce a single customs duty from January 1, 2010. The tariff will be formed by the Commission of the Customs Union. The common customs territory will become effective on July 1, 2010. This decision was approved on November 27 in Minsk during the meeting of the heads of state.
