Belarus official explained low ranking of media freedom in Belarus
In the ranking of media freedom an important role belongs to politics, said Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Ihar Buzouski in an interview with the portal tut.by. "The media have been and remain an influence tool (...) Political background is clearly present, I'm sure of it," said the official.
As was previously reported, in the latest press freedom ranking Belarus ranked 192 th out of 199.
In Belarus, the freedom of speech is on Cuba's level, with Iran and Syria having more of it.
Buzouski visited the 20th International Exhibition "Mass Media in Belarus", which opened in Minsk on Wednesday, May 11. It will run until May 14.
