Belarus ready to substitute European import in Russia
Senior deputy Minister of Agriculture and Nutrition leaned Marynich has claimed it today.
"This is our Klondike. We are ready to substitute the Western countries in food export to Russia,” RIA Novosti quotes Marynich.
Belarus expects to increase the supplies of cheese, meat and whole milk to Russia. Belarusian agrarians may also organize additional supplies of vegetables to substitute Dutch potatoes and Polish apples, Marynich said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin introduced special economic measures ‘to protect the country’s national interests’ on Wednesday. His decree imposes a ban on the import of agricultural products, raw materials and food from the countries that introduced sanctions against Russia in connection with the events in Ukraine. The list of affected goods will be published this afternoon.
