Belarusian class may appear in Hrodna
The head of the Belarusian Language Association Aleh Trusau has informed ERB about it. It will become clear whether the class can accept Belarusian-speaking pupils on September 1.
The head of the BLA reminded that the number of Belarusian-speaking schoolchildren kept decreasing. He mentioned the fact that Belarusian schools were being closed in villages.
Trusau: "We are trying to open a Belarusian class in Hrodna. It is not clear whether we will be able to do it or not. It will be known on September 1. About 100 Belarusian schools have been closed down this year. The monitoring is very sad. They are closing entire schools in villages instead of creating classes because there are not enough people there”.
