Belarusian MFA trolls Council of Europe for ‘Byelorussia’ (photo)
The Belarusian Ministry for Foreign Affairs has reacted to the information about a seminar of ‘the Emerald Network’ in Minsk published in the Russian language version of the website of the Council of Europe. Our country was called ‘Byelorussia’ there.
"Dear @CoE_ru!” the Belarusian MFA wrote on Twitter. “You cannot attract Belarus to the Council of Europe even if you try catching it with ‘an emerald net’. At least while you are trying to catch ‘Byelorussia’”.
Belarus is not a member of the Council of Europe. One of the obstacles to our country’s membership is the existence of the death penalty.
