Belarusian Social Democratic Party Congress to decide on leader

Another Congress of the Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Hramada) is taking place today in Minsk. More than 60 delegates participate in it, informs BelaPAN. The agenda includes two basic issues: elections of the directive board of the party and format of participation in the Presidential elections. The delegates have also taken the decision that this Congress should consist of two sessions. The second session will take place in January 2011 and will be dedicated to discussion of the post-electoral situation in the country. At the moment the Congress is considering 3 candidates for the position of the party leader - the current Chairman of the Belarusian Social Democtratic Party Anatol Liaukovich, Valery Fralou and Anatol Sidarevich. However, it is still unknown whether Fralou and Sidarevich will run as candidates for Chairman.

On August 30 Anatol Sidarevich has published an appeal not to connect his name with the Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Hramada). Moreover, the politician has claimed he will not comment on this decision. However, a few days later he has announced he will stay in the party.
