Belarusians ask Lukashenka to announce mourning for Polish President
Unlike other neighbouring states, the Belarusian authorities have not announced any mourning. Ordinary Belarusian citizens have suggested it, reports nn.by. Iryna Laurouskaya, a historian and architect from Brest, has sent a corresponding letter to the President’s Administration. She noted that our country had only limited to diplomatic assistance rendered to relatives who crossed our border during a transit.
Laurouskaya asks the Belarusian government to announce mourning for the Poles who died near Smolensk. She says that the Belarusian people’s honour and conscience will be shamefully stained otherwise.
