Belarusians buying apartments in Moscow
Moscow realtors say that Belarusians now make up a third of apartment buyers.
After the fall of the Russian ruble, real estate prices in Moscow dropped significantly. Housing prices in Russia have remained in Russian rubles, so a one-bedroom apartment on the outskirts of Moscow can be purchased for 85 thousand dollars, reports Komsomolskaya Pravda.
Manager of one of Moscow's real estate agencies said that three out of ten of their customers are now from Belarus. Even though they saw no Belarusians up to October 2014.
A realtor said that those who buy apartments cheap, then rent the housing. If Belarusians buy expensive apartments, they do it either for themselves or for family members, which then move to Moscow.
Incidentally, those who purchase housing in Moscow to lease it later will be able to recoup the one bedroom flat in about 8-9 years. Currently, the average cost of one-room apartment in Moscow is 800-1,000 dollars a month.
