BELTA explains how Freedom Day invitation turned out on their website
CEO of state news agency commented on the incident.
The general director of the state news agency BelTA Dzmitry Zhuk commented on the invitation to the Freedom Day which had appeared on their website. A colored banner appeared in one of the articles on March 10, later it was gone. There was an opinion that page had been hacked.
However, as reported by BelaPAN, Dzmitry Zhuk said that the picture appeared on the website by mistake. "This was the result of a lapse on the part of the editor," said the CEO. However, he did not specify the kind of illustration that was to accompany the news about an American fisherman and a shark. Mr Zhuk did not give a definite answer about whether the editor would be punished.
The Freedom Day, anniversary of the declaration of independence of the Belarusian People's Republic in 1918, is celebrated on March 25. A festive march and rally has been sanctioned by the authorities to take place in Minsk. Participants will gather on Wednesday at 15.00 near the Kastrychnik cinema. See details here.
