Blogger Labadzenka protests against Russian TV at Belarusian filling stations
Blogger and journalist Hleb Labadzenka has asked the Ministry of Information to make the filling stations United Company turn on Belarusian TV channels. He is also urging to boycott these filling stations. The blogger visited one of such filling stations near Stobtsy. The Russian TV channel Russia 24 was on all the time there.
Labadzenka asked the station staff to switch channels and turn on a Belarusian channel instead but they refused. Then the blogger asked the director of the fillings station to explain the refusal.
“The administration had ordered them not to turn off the TV channel Russia 24, director Vital Vitalyevich Kulak conformed. He could not explain the decision and said: ‘We decided so because people can learn news from all over the world on this TV channel,” Labadzenka described the situation to the Belarusian Association of Journalists.
BAJ did not manage to contact the director of that filling station. The main office of the company has not commented on the situation and asked to send a written request.
