Candidate: Belarus has a long way towards EU programs
Belarus will have to go a long way in order to join EU's programs, Stefan Fuleh, a candidate for the post of EU Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy, said on January 12 in Brussels when commenting on the situation in Belarus. Responding to the questions of MEPs, Fuleh reminded that Belarus is currently a member of the Eastern Partnership program only.
The candidate reckons that the Parliamentary Assembly of the Eastern Partnership known as EURONEST is one of the opportunities in order "to add momentum to the policy in general", reports Belapan.
The Czech diplomat says it is necessary to treat with an equal attention the neighbors both in the South and the East.
The candidate reckons that his duties would include assistance to EU membership candidate countries in carrying out necessary reforms.
