Case of poisoning of Belarusian children in Ukraine may be closed
The criminal case about poisoning of 34 Belarusian children who were spending vacations in the summer camp “Chaika” in Odessa Region of Ukraine may be closed.
The Public Prosecutor of Belgrad-Dnestr District Vladimir Zhygun informed ERB about it:
“Representatives of the sanitation service presented us their conclusion (there was a commission created and an investigation was started). They found out that there was no poisoning. Thus a question what should be done next have arisen”.
Let us remind you that several dozen Belarusian children seemed to suffer from poisoning and were taken to a local hospital on the night of June 22. There are about 400 children in the “Chaika” camp.
The Office of Public Prosecutor started a criminal case according to the article “Negligence”. All summer camps started to be checked after that. Children spent 3 or 4 days in hospital and were discharged back to the camp.
Public Prosecutor Zhygun explained that epidemiologists stated the following:
“Children arrived from other regions. There were some children from Chernobyl zone and the products they ate caused indigestion”.
At the moment the investigator of Belgrad-Dnestr District Office of Public Prosecutor is studying the documents of the case. The decision will be taken within the next few days.
