Central Elections Commission to consider application for registration of nomination group consisting of one person
An unemployed psychologist from Kalodzishchy Ilya Dabratvor filed an application for registration of his nomination group today at 12. The group consists of one person - Ilya himself. The father of four children told the European Radio for Belarus that he had filed the documents to declare his protest. Dabratvor: "It is an action of protest against the fact that some strange persons file documents for registration. Like, for example, that nurse's aide. So I decided to use my right to file an application. However, I don't think it will be accepted".
Ilya could not possibly become a President as he has not turned 35 yet. However, according to the legislation, the Central Elections Commissoion is obliged to accept the application of a person of such age and is even obliged to register him as a candidate. However, the group should be no less than 100 people. Thus, Dabratvor's ambitions do not go further that protesting.
The psychologist from Kalodzishchy is a member of the movement "For Freedom!". However, he said the directive board of the movement had prohibited him to file the application as a member of the movement, saying they did not participate in the elections in any form. Alongside with that, Ilya is also a member of Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu's nomination group, thus he does not limit his participation in the elections to just protesting.
Apart from Dabratvor, the lawyer Ales Mikhalevich (1800 people in the nomination group) and the director of the company "Trivium" Zmitser Us (more than 1300 people) also filed documents for registration to the Central Elections Commission.
