Council of Europe to discuss elections in Belarus

The pre-electoral situation in Belarus will become the key topic at the conference of international non-governmental organizations of the Council of Europe. The forum will take place on October 4-7 in Strasbourg. The main themes of the discussion are upcoming elections, amendments of the electoral legislation and freedom of media. The coordinator of civic society forum on Belarus Uladzislau Vialichka will speak at the conference on October 5. He will report on the results of the forum's activity and tell about the development of national platforms in the Eastern Partnership countries. He told this in his interview to the Eutropean Radio for Belarus.

Vialichka: "At present, i am convinced that the perspectives of the Eastern Partnership as a program, at the civic society level, depends on development of national platforms. Development of the said platforms, in its turn, faces certain difficulties of internal character. From the other side, it's an issue of State interests. National platform is the ground for agreement of the civic sector interests".

The conference will also be participated by the Deputy of the House of Representatives Mikalaj Samasejka, informs BELTA. He plans to meet the speaker on Belarus Sinika Hurskeinen and representatives of national delegations in PACE.
