Economy ministry: Beltransgaz's shares will not be sold ahead of schedule

The shares of Belarus' petrochemical monopoly will not be sold to Russia's Gazprom ahead of schedule, Belarus's deputy economy minister Aleh Melnikau said in a statement. Natallya Zharnasek, Director of the National Property Fund, explained that the deal parties -- the State Property Committee and Gazprom -- did not file any proposals to change the agreement about the sale of 50 percent of Beltransgaz's shares”.

In June 2007, Gazprom paid for 12.5 percent of Beltransgaz's shares. Under the deal, the Russian gas giant will buy 50 percent of the shares in equal installments of 12.5 percent by 2010, reports the official news agency Belta.
