EU to double financial assistance to Belarus this year
The European Union will double the financial assistance to Belarus this year, EU representative in Belarus Andrea Wiktorin said.
Belarus will receive 29 million euro, she noted. The money will be spent on migration issues, regional development and economic development of the whole country. Another 7 million euro will be allocated for the economic development of the regions.
"The main thing is not the numbers but the organization of cooperation between local authorities, the civil society and others partners in order to establish steady development of the regions. The initiatives should be developed by the ruled ones,” BelaPAN quotes Andrea Wiktorin.
The memorandum on mutual understanding between the UN Development programme and the executive committees of 30 pilot regions was signed in Minsk hotel Renaissance on March 31.
