EU for fair and honest elections in Belarus
It is important for the European Union that presidential elections in Belarus should be fair and honest. This was stated by the Charge D'Affaires of the EU in Belarus Jean Eric Holzapfel, in his interview to BelaPAN. According to him, it is important that the process of organization of the elections should be transparent. The EU is now discussing what is important for Europe in conducting of Belarusian presidential elections, said Holzapfel. This concerns voting, observing, access of candidates to mass media, freedom of gatherings.
As for the possible abolishment of sanctions with regard to high-ranked Belarusian officials, the Charge D'Affaires said the process of negotiations and internal agreements was taking place at the moment. The decision on this issue will be taken in the end of October.
