European Commission demands that gas supplies via Ukraine should be resumed as soon as possible
The European Commission has demanded that Russia should resume gas supplies to Europe after the recent agreement about an international mission of observers to control supplies via Ukraine reached by all the interested states today, on January 9. France Press informs that the Prime Ministers of Czechia (presiding in the EU) and Russia Mirek Topolánek and Vladimir Putin agreed on the format of the mission of international observers in strategic spots on the phone on January 8.
A mission of European observers that will monitor Russian gas supplies via the Ukrainian territory will leave for Ukraine on January 9.
The international commission of experts will have free access to documents and objects of the Ukrainian gas-transport system and to the underground gas resources. The document has already been signed by Russia.
