Every inhabitant of Hantsavichy has 6 “Soviet” bank accounts

Specialists from “Belarsubank” are asking inhabitants of Hantsavchy to close bank accounts they do not use. Bankers send letters informing about it every week and even phone their clients. There are 200 thousand active bank accounts in the district for 34 thousand inhabitants including babies.

Evidently, people have lost a lot of money.

Iosif Palazok opened his bank account in 1977. He has received 7750 roubles from it. One can buy 3 kilos of sugar with this money now.

Natallya Vashkevich paid in 3 thousand Soviet roubles for her children. She received 33 thousand Belarusian roubles for it the other day.

"The money could be used to buy good Finnish furniture back then. Now I can only buy a kilo of sausages with it. We have not received any compensation for our deposits although we have been waiting for 15 years”, - complains the woman.
