Ex-senator’s sentence to be pronounced today
Ex-senator and director of Vistebsk poultry plant Hanna Shareika will trial in the Supreme Court on June 10. The hearing will start at 10 a.m.
Shareika was arrested in August 2014. She is accused of power abuse when choosing a supplier for the factory. Six more people are accused of it. Shareika’s close friend, Lithuanian businessman Valdemaras Norkus, is among them. Their actions did damage to the state and citizens’ interests although they did not result in any material loss, the investigators think.
The prosecution has demanded to imprison Hanna Shareika for 2.5 years, forbid her to work in administrative positions for five years and fine the defendant for 150 base amounts.
