French writer Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clezio wins Nobel Literature Prize
A French writer Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clezio has won the 2008 Nobel Literature Prize, informs “Interfax”. He was awarded for being “an author of new departures, poetic adventure and sensual ecstasy, explorer of a humanity beyond and below the reigning civilisation”.
The writer became famous thanks to his novel “The Interrogation” (1963). He published more than 30 works from 1963 till 1975: fairy-tales, novels, essays and translations of Mexican mythology. Le Clezio was announced the greatest living French-language writer in 1994.
