Gaidukevich: Belarus and EU have step-by-step dialogue strategy
The House of Representatives will not discuss the recognition of Georgia's breakaway republics of South Ossetia and Abkhazia on Thursday. According to speaker Vadzim Papou, there should be no rush in this question, reports Interfax. It had been speculated earlier that a new parliament could formally recognize those regions.
The European Radio for Belarus asked current MP Sergei Gaidukevich to comment on this issue. He responded in a "diplomatic manner":
"A step-by-step strategy of a dialogue between Belarus and the EU has begun. Certain steps from the European Union are expected on October 13. This step-by-step strategy envisages no rush in this issue".
On October 13 in Luxembourg, EU foreign ministers are expected to gather for a meeting to discuss among other issues the lifting of sanctions against some of Belarusian officials.
