Germany wants Belarus to conduct elections according to international standards

The human rights plenipotentiary of the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs Markus Lening has urged the Belarusian President to organize the presidential elections according to the international standards. Lening’s statement distributed by the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs lists all the standards: participation of political parties in the elections, access of all candidates to mass media, inclusion of opposition representatives in election commissions and a transparent poll system.

The human rights plenipotentiary expressed a hope that the Belarusian authorities would invite long-term OSCE observers to monitor the elections, informs BelaPAN.
