Greece introduces smoking ban
Greece has introduced a smoking ban in public places including bars, restaurants, stadiums, cinema houses, transport and other institutions today, on September 1. The Greek Ministry of Health is worried about the smoking issue. Greeks are the most inveterate smokers in the European Union with than 40% of the population addicted to nicotine. The country has introduced the ban to join the rest of the European states where the law has already come into power.
Euronews.net informs that infringers will be fined from 50 to 200 euro. Owners of the institutions that do not obey the law will have to pay a fine that may reach 10 thousand euro.
