High heels may be banned in Belarus

A request for this ban has been sent by the Russian parliament Duma (endorsed by Just Russia's Oleg Miheyev) to the head of the Eurasian Economic Commission Victor Khristenko today, Izvestya reports. The move is explained by the orthopaedic safety concerns.

If the amendments are adopted, the Customs Union will ban high heels, gumshoes and ballet slippers. Check here for more details.

It was reported earlier that the member states of the Customs Union (Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan) may ban synthetic lingerie in the summer of 2014.
