Houses of Belarusian Romas dismantled in Russia

In the town of Chudovo in the Novgorod region of Russia, authorities demolished the houses that were illegally built by the Belarusian Romas.
The Roma community led by Mikhaj Janash migrated from Belarus right after the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear accident.

The local authorities allowed the Roma to build houses in the village of Pridorozhnaya in the Chudovo district, but they also shifted to the district center and build new houses. According to the ruling by a local court, the demolishion of the houses began in the fall of 2006. The last three illegal houses were dismantled by owners themselves, according to www.annews.ru
