The majority of residents in the Astravetski district are in favor of the construction of a nuclear power plant in their region, Viktar Svila, a deputy chairman of the Astravetski district administration in charge of ideology, told reporters in Minsk.
He said that people had an optimistic and pragmatic attitude to the plans to build a nuclear station. "They hope it will improve the social and economic situation in the district", the ideology official said citing the poll returns.
Over 400 people visited the district council in the past two weeks, seeking employment at the construction site of the nuclear power plant, reports Interfax.
