IMF: Belarus might lose $2bn due to changes in oil imports
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has preliminary assessed the losses of the Belarusian economy in $2 billion due to the shock caused by the changes of oil import conditions, Chris Jarvis, the head of IMF mission in Minsk, said during an international conference in Minsk, reports Interfax. The IMF mission plans to meet with the leadership of Belarus within one week in order to discuss the consequences of the crisis and external shocks for Belarus.
The IMF monitoring mission has been in Minsk on February 3-16. In late December 2009 Belarus received the fourth installment of the IMF loan in amount of $688 million. Belarus has already received almost $2.9 billion of the total stand-by loan worth $3.63 billion, under the IMF-funded loan program.
