J:MORS refuse to perform at “Rock Coronation”
Officials from Minsk City Executive Committee have allowed “blacklisted” bands to take part in “Rock Coronation”. However, ERB has found out that one of the main candidates for getting the crown - J:MORS band - have refused to take part in the event. Without any comments.
Minsk City Executive Committee gave the organizers permission to conduct “Rock Coronation”. Officials approved of the whole programme of the concert. According to the founder of the musical festival Yury Tsybin, there were no problems connected with “blacklisted” bands like “Krama” and “Neuro Dubel” taking part in the concert.
Yury Tsybіn: “Not a single band was banned from the event. Everyone we put on that list has remained there”.
According to the founder of the event, organizers have managed to talk to all bands invited to participate in the concert and they confirmed they would do it. Except for J:MORS.
Yury Tsybіn: “The only band that has not agreed yet is J:MORS . They will probably not perform at this year’s “Coronation”. All the other bands confirmed their desire to take part in the concert”.
According to him, “the morses” explained their refusal by the fact they were to perform somewhere abroad during the concert. ERB contacted the band’s guitarist Raman Arlou. However, it turned out rather difficult to get any information from him.
Raman Arlou: “You know, I can only leave it without any comments. The thing is it is not me who takes such decisions. I could tell you something but it would not be the corporative way. And anyway, I haven’t said it either”.
ERB has not even managed to find out his personal attitude to “Rock Coronation” as an event in the musical life of Belarus.
Raman Arlou: “I would not like you to publish anything on my behalf. Maybe if you promised not to do it… But you would! So I will not say anything. 0 KB of information”.
However, other sourced told ERB that the refusal of J:MORS to take part in “Rock Coronation” was not connected with any concert tour abroad. The thing is that the vocalist leaves for Czechia on vacation on January 25. That’s the whole secret.
According to the founder of “Coronation” Yury Tsybin, they will not be offended if “the morses” do not perform at the concert. They will not even take away their prize. If J:MORS win it.
Yury Tsybіn: “It will not influence the results. If they get some prize I will invite the band’s managers to attend “Coronation” and to get the prize”.
According to him, the organizers are promising viewers a high-quality musical show. All their efforts are meant to do it.
Yury Tsybіn: “We are working on it now – to make it a high-quality performance. We have to prove that we can do it. Regardless of whether someone is helping us or not. We will try to organize a cool concert”.
The jury has already decided on main candidates in most nominations. There are no surprises. As the founder of “Rock Coronation” predicted in his previous interview with ERB, the majority of them are veterans of the Belarusian rock. But there will be one surprise. The band that will get the Rock Crown of 2007.
Yury Tsybin: “The major surprise is that I do not know who will get the Rock Crown. I used to know it at all “Coronations” but I do not know it this year.

“The project of the year” is a piece of music out on a medium, having its own concept and usually recorded by members of different bands, joint projects, collections of different singers, collections of best songs of a band, concert records out on media, side-projects, tributes and etc. can be included in it.
Criteria:
a) quality of the recorded material,
b) conceptuality, urgency and novelty of the project,
c) market reaction – sales + reports in mass media.

2. Concert activities during the year (solo concerts, participation in festivals, etc.)
3. Active presence in the information space (reviews in mass media, participation in Internet, TV and radio hit parades, etc.)

Break-though of the year
Musicians (musical bands) that existed before 2007 but proved to be really active only in 2007 are taken into account. Their recorded audio materials, active participation in concerts, success at Belarusian and international festivals and presence in the information space are important.

Video of the year
Videos of all musicians corresponding to the festival’s format and shot during 2007 are taken into account. They should be chosen according to the following criteria: effective combination of the sound and the video, author’s style of the producer, rotation on domestic and foreign musical channels.
