John Paul II monument vandalized in Vitsebsk (photo)
The monument to former Roman Catholic Pope John Paul II near the Merciful Jesus Cathedral in Vitsebsk has become a victim of vandals for the second time.
Vandals first attacked the monument two weeks after it was unveiled in 2008. Then, a watchman saw a group of youngsters who ran away when he shouted at them.
This time, vandals tore off a hand of the sculpture. The police have not opened criminal proceedings yet. In 2008, a criminal case was opened, but the police failed to find the criminals.
