July 27 action participants get fines for petty hooliganizm
Participants of the action to mark 20 years of Belarus' Declaration of Independence have been fined by Sovietski District Court in Minsk.
The fines were issued to Vyachaslau Siucnhyk, chairman of Razam (Together) movement's organizing committee as well as youth activists Mikalai Dzemidzenka, Andrei Kim and Katsyaryna Davydzik.
On July 27, the activists wanted to lay flowers to the monuments of Yakub Kolas, Yanka Kupala and Maxim Bahdanovich (Belarus' literature legends) as well as to recite poems next to the monuments. Police detained four activist on Yakub Kolas square. They spent the night in police detention. Trials were scheduled for July 28 but were postponed fpr August 5, because police witnesses did not show up in court, reports Belapan.
