July 3 in Minsk “people’s festival”, jazz concert and fireworks
WWII veterans will march along Independence Avenue and lay flowers to the Victory monument. It is dated for the anniversary of the day when the Red Army entered Minsk. They will be followed by Alyaksandr Lukashenka and other state representatives. BelaPAN informs that the event “Happy holidays, Belarus!” will begin near the Palace of Sport in Winners Avenue. There will be a concert of “Minsk ensembles” including children’s dances and songs, a trade fair, a children’s holiday and a jazz concert.
“Summer opening day” will be organized near the city hall from 1 p.m. to 20 p.m. It will be possible to look through paintings and buy them, to see street musicians and artists who will not be chased away by the police because of the official holiday.
A great official gala concert with fireworks “We are Belarus” will start near the stele “Minsk - a hero city” at 8.30 p.m. It will end with anthem singing and fireworks at 11 p.m.
People will have to go through radio-metal locators to access the festival. The police have asked people to be sober and not to bring any thrust or sharp instruments and huge bags.
Doctors have prepared 530 additional beds for those who might encounter health problems during the festival.
Let us remind you that the official holiday was introduced by Alyaksandr Lukashenka after he had come to power and it is called “Independence Day, Republic Day”. About a million people take part in it voluntary or under compulsion every year.
