Lawmakers in Hantsavichy demonstrate "democracy lesson" to local schoolchildren
The meeting of the district council of deputies today took place in the town of Hantsavichy, but journalists from the local newspaper Hantsavichski Chas were denied access to the meeting. District council chairman Viktar Drozd did not let the newspaper's deputy editor-in-chief, saying the journalist had not been invited.
When the deputy editor proposed the deputies to vote whether he could be present at the meeting, the council chairman rejected this idea and promised to give a written answer. Meanwhile, senior students from a local high school were invited to attend the meeting and could see with their own eyes a high level of democracy and transparency in their home town.
