Leanid Hulyaka ready to meet with Union of Poles leader
Leanid Hulyaka, official in charge of religious and national affairs, is ready to meet with Union of Poles in Belarus leader Anzhalika Arekhva. He can meet her at any moment as a citizen of Belarus not as representative of the Union of Poles which is not recognized by the Belarusian government, Leanid Hulyaka said today at a press conference in Minsk, reports Belapan. He intends to discuss with Mrs Arekhav the topic of Poles in a broad sense as well as to listen to her point of view and treat it as a statesman. The statute of the unofficial Union of Poles in Belarus is not registerd at the Ministry of Justice, so its representatives have no right to speak on behalf of a non-existent union.
At the same time, Hulyaka said the government was ready to do anything so that the Polish minority topic be removed from the social or political agenda.
