Lidziya Yarmoshyna shares Paris impressions
Lidziya Yarmoshyna’s dream has come true – she has visited Paris. It became possible when the European Union suspended the sanctions imposed on Belarusian officials. The official visited Italy on December 2015 and headed for the French capital to spend Christmas vacations there.
Paris is advertised too much, the CEC chairperson told Komsomolskaya Pravda later. “So many people were enchanted by Paris, so many artists and painters, that the city has turned into a myth of something special. If you compare tourist attractions, Paris does not stand a chance against Rome. Rome is a great city and its architecture is great. Paris was rebuilt in the 19th century to make it a comfortable place to live at. Old houses were demolished and new ones were built. They are very much alike, almost the same.”
Yarmoshyna liked the Louvre, Palace of Fontainebleau situated 60 km away from Paris and the Paris Opera. She photographed next to the stele of the Code of Hammurabi in the Louvre – the oldest written law code. She also watched a show at the cabaret Moulin Rouge which cost her 117 euro.
She did not find the Russian cemetery an interesting place because it was neglected. Yarmoshyna was not impressed by the Château de Vincennes either.
The CEC chairperson lived not far from the Eiffel Tower in Paris. She was surprised at the high prices: “Belarusian goods are of a much better quality, not to mention the prices.”
