Lithuanian embassy to resume visa services on August 1

The Lithuanian embassy will resume visa services on August 1, Kristina Pakanite, spokeswoman for the embassy told ERB.

It suspended services on July 25 following the overnight vandal attack.

"An investigation is under way. The Lithuanian foreign ministry said in a statement that the Vienna convention had been violated and that the issuance of visas was suspended. Citizens of the Republic of Belarus who have an appointment for July 25 will be serviced on August 1. Those who are supposed to pick up their passports today will be able to do so. Applications will be accepted starting on August 1," she said.

The previous night, vandals threw bottles with paint and leaflets of Russia's far-left National Bolshevik Party (NBP) on the embassy's territory, and painted NBP symbols on the fence surrounding it.

Ambassador Edminas Bagdonas sent a letter of protest to the Belarusian foreign ministry, demanding an investigation and measures to prevent recurrent attacks.
