Lower price for Schengen visas depends on Belarusian government - Lyubamіr Regak
The issue of the Schengen visas price in Belarus is too much politicized. The Slovakian chargé d'affaires pro tempore to Belarus Lyubamіr Regak has informed about it.
According to him, “Europe is ready to create a simplified visa regime for Belarusians but on certain conditions”. He stressed that a lower Schengen visa price depends on the willingness of the Belarusian authorities to cooperate with the European Union”.
“It will be very hard to convince European partners to give Belarus a bonus in the sense of a lower Schengen visa price if Belarus continues neglecting the system of EU values, detaining people for political reasons and limiting the freedom of mass media”, - claimed Mr. Regak.
Let us remind you that Schengen visas will cost Belarusians 60 euro starting from the next year.
Let us note that the Slovakian Embassy has been a local head of the EU on behalf of Portugal starting from July 1, 2007 and will be presiding in the EU Council from November 1 till May 2008.
