Alyaksandr Lukashenka said that he sees no
obstacles to better relations between Belarus and the European Union. The
Belarusian leader told reporters after laying a wreath at the Yama Holocaust memorial
in Minsk on
Monday that he appreciates the EU's decision to lift an entry ban on a large
group of Belarusian officials.
He said he was confident that the dialogue
would continue. "We no longer have to talk through the iron curtain, the
Berlin Wall with Europe. This is a small step, a half step,
but it is significant,” Interfax Zapad quoted him as saying.
