Lukashenka: Economy copes with payrise for public sector workers
The economy of Belarus refutes expectations of critics who forecasted price growth after the 30-percent payrise to public sector workers, Alyaksandr Lukashenka said on December 17 responding to the questions of journalists.
The president noted that the rise of salaries by 30 percent "would not affect our economy". On the contrary, having received a rise in wages ahead of winter festivities, people will purchase goods in Belarusian shops. The prices have not soared, so "there is nothing to fear about", reckons the head of the state.
