Lukashenka: It's uncler what will happen to US dollars tomorrow

In the current situation on the financial and foreign currency markets Belarus will not restrain the import of goods, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said as he heard out a report of Aide to the Belarusian President for Vitebsk Region Mikalai Sharstniou and Aide to the Belarusian President for Grodno Region Uladzimir Damaneuski on 22 December, BelTA news agency reports quoting the president's press service.

Lukashenka thanked Belarusians for helpingа reduce the warehouse inventory at Belarusian enterprises by buying washing machines, microwave ovens and other household appliances in large quantitities. On the other hand, he is surpised why people prefer to buy imported products instead of Belarus-made goods.

"It is up to people: if they want to buy, let them buy. Today I have given an instruction which is especially relevant for Minsk not to restrict the sale of imported goods and to prevent trade agents from lining their pockets," Aliaksandr Lukashenka is quoted as saying by his press-service.

According to Lukashenka, "it is unacceptable to restrain import", because imported products "will be much more expensive than Belarusian ones."

"As far as the foreign currency market is concerned, people have already understood that it is unacceptable to pay an exorbitant price for U.S. dollars and euros. All in all, it is much better to buy commodities than U.S. dollars. It is unclear what will happen with U.S. dollars tomorrow," said the head of state.
