Lukashenka meets with US congressmen (video)
They proposed to raise the level of diplomatic representation and to return US Ambassador to Minsk and Belarusian ambassador to Washington.
On August 3, in Minsk, Alyaksandr Lukashenka met with a delegation of US congressmen. He told them that Belarus has been and will be interested in a full-fledged cooperation with the United States.
Mr Lukashenka noted that Belarus appreciates the support of its initiatives in the United Nations and the willingness of the United States to promote the accession of Belarus to the World Trade Organization. "I believe that we need to build relationships between the United States and Belarus, not by the media, but directly studying the situation in the country, and make corresponding conclusions," BELTA reports the words of the Belarusian ruler.
In turn, a member of the US House of Representatives from California, Dana Rohrabacher, offered to raise the level of diplomatic representation between Belarus and the US. He offered to return the US Ambassador to Minsk and Belarusian ambassador to Washington.
Dana Rohrabacher pointed out that it is the first time in many years that the US congressmen visited Belarus. According to BELTA, the congressman said: "I was glad to see in Belarus, what I saw here. And the picture that was revealed to me pays tribute to your efforts and those of your country, which have been made for the people. And I hope that you have many more things to be proud of and we have many areas for cooperation. And I'm ready to get new experience after many years since the last visit."
