Lukashenka officially re-appoints Yarmoshyna as CEC head
On December 20, Aliaksandr Lukashenka signed an edict to approve five members of Central Elections Commission and its chairperson.
The former CEC Lidziya Yarmoshyna was appointed as the chairwoman. Her candidature is yet to be formally approved by the Council of the Republic, the upper chamber of National Assembly of Belarus.
The members of the newly appointed Central Elections Commission are Alena Dzmukhayla, Vadzim Ipatau, Siarhei Kalinouski, Maryna Rakhmanava and Aleh Slizheuski. All of them were members of the previous Central Elections Commission.
The CEC websites reports the first session of the new commission will take place at 1600 on December 21. The meeting will elect a deputy of the CEC chair and the secretary.
It became known that Yarmoshyna was to remain at the post of the CEC chairwoman on November 25 when she revealed the news after her meeting with Aliaksandr Lukashenka. On her possible resignation she said that it depended on the will of her employer - the head of state.
