Lukashenka pardons 22 people who paid off their tax debts
Alexander Lukashenka has signed a decree to pardon 22 out of 25 people who refunded material losses that they caused to the state, Natallya Pyatkevich, the deputy head of the Office of the President said today at the House of Representatives during the debates over the new law on amnesty, reports Belapan.
She also noted that she did not see it necessary to expand the list of citizens who should fall under amnesty. Pyatkevich stressed that pardons by the president could ensure a more individual approach to every particular case.
The deputy head of the Office of the President also suggested to remove the category of women with children and pregnant women from the amnesty legislation so that their cases be reviewed by the commission of pardons.
