Lukashenka on pig elimination: No more complaints next week!
The state leader has commented on the situation in swine breeding and African swine fever.
The Belarusian swine breeding is still in danger regardless of all the taken measures, Alyaksandr Lukashenka noted. He did not support the idea of creating a certain programme for ASF fighting and urged to take “certain measures” based on experience.
The state leader drew attention to the absence of any vaccine to fight ASF. The only way to curb the epidemic is to eliminate pigs and wild boar near the niduses of infection and create 5-km buffer zones, he admitted.
However, Lukashenka urged to stop ignoring people who are complaining to the President’s Administration about the situation: “We are on a good mission, we need to fight the fever but we are causing a negative reaction to our actions among citizens.” It is inadmissible, the state leader said.
"It should be done in a clever way, you should not just eliminate everything within 5 kilometres around the village without listening to people. It should not be like this,” Interfax-West quotes Alyaksandr Lukashenka.
He also noted that “if some animals are infected, there is no other way but eliminating them.”
