Lukashenka signs decree easing conditions for creation of trade unions

On June 2, Belarus President Alyaksandr Lukashenka signed a Decree #4 easing conditions for creation of trade unions in Belarus. It introduced changes and additions to the Presidential Decree of 1999. The document excludes the provision demanding at least 10% of the total number of employees for the creation of trade union at the enterprise, institution or organization.

It is noted that the changes create more favorable conditions for trade union activities, realization and protection of social and labor rights and interests of workers. The changes will take effect on the date of the official publication of the decree, BelaPAN reports.

On May 22, Alyaksandr Lukashenka spoke at the 6th Congress of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus (see. Video). He instructed the Prime Minister Andrei Kabyakou to create trade union organizations at the enterprises of all forms of ownership by the middle of next year.
