Memorial fountain "Victory" to be open on City Day, September 10, in Minsk

The Park of Victory will be opened today in Minsk near Kamsamolskaye lake. It's opening is timed to coincide with the City Day, informs Belarusian State Television. The most notable construction in the park is the sculptural fountain complex. It is now under the final works so the water will be started there during the City Day celebration. In the perspective it is to become a supplement to the Great Patriotic War Museum, which is planned to be build in a year. The sculptural fountain complex "Victory" is a fountain bearing the elements of a monument. It is an image of a torchlight surrounded by 53 granite stones, representing the number of divisions which liberated Belarus from the occupants. Commemorating the victims of war is an important, but secondary function of the complex, to the opinion of its authors.

There will also be illumination and musical accompanement of the fountain.
