Mikhail Saakashvili thankful to Belarus for support
Belarus always supported Georgia when it was necessary, Georgian president Mikhail Saakashvili on July 15 said in an interview to First Channel of the Belarusian state television. "Georgia has a great sympathy towards the Belarusian people. Indeed, if there is a Europeanized nation, it is Belarusians. We passed through various periods in the framework of CIS. We are not members of CIS now. But it happened that if we needed to support each other, Belarus would always support us", Saakashvili said.
He reminded that Belarus did not join Russia's embargo on the Georgian wine and mineral water. Saakashvili also noted there has been intensive air traffic between Tbilisi and Minsk.
The Georgian president also expressed hope that Belarus would make a wise decision when considering the recognition of Abkhazia and South Ossetia as independent nations.
