Milinkevich urges the authorities to announce national mourning
The leader of the movement “For Freedom” Alyaksandr Milinkevich has urged the Belarusian authorities to announce a national mourning to express solidarity with the Polish people.
The appeal distributed with the help of Milinkevich’s official website says:
"Our neighbours, the Poles, are going through a great tragedy. The best representatives of the political, military, intellectual and public elite of the country as well as President Lech Kaczyński have died in a plane crash. All Poland’s neighbours including Russia and Ukraine have announced a national mourning in connection with it.
Belarus should join the mourning according to all norms of humaneness and good-neighbourly relations.
I urge all Belarusians to demonstrate their sympathy and concern to the Polish people.
I urge the Belarusian authorities to announce a day of national mourning to express solidarity with the Polish people and the whole Europe”.
