Milkavita goes to court, demands disclaimer from Associated Press
Homel company Milkavita is suing Associated Press reporter Yuras Karmanau. The journalist conducted an investigation and found out that the concentration of radionuclides in Milkavita’s milk exceeded the maximum threshold.
The first hearing will be held in Minsk Maskouski District Court on October 5.
Milkavita demands that the journalist refuted the false information’ on the website of the Associated press and on seven Belarusian, Russian and Polish websites that published the agency’s material.
The investigation was legal and was based on facts, Yuras Karmanau told the Belarusian Association of Journalists. The article contained laboratory tests results showing the excess of radionuclides in Milakvita’s milk and a comment given by the enterprise.
The article was published by the Associated Press on April 25. Homel enterprise Milkavita was accused of buying ‘dirty’ milk from the farm Rodny Shlyah situated in Hoiniki District.
